The Town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia is in the heart of the Annapolis Valley. With its rich and vibrant history, stunning landscapes and architecture, an abundance of wonderful restaurants, shops and accommodations, as well as a flourishing arts community, Wolfville is an ideal location for an annual music festival.
Festival volunteers plan and create an event that includes something for everyone - music lovers of all ages can enjoy this weekend.
The Canadian Deep Roots Music Festival celebrates Nova Scotia's diverse musical traditions - blending the music of founding cultures with modern roots music from across North America and around the world.
The Festival features music of the cultures that settled the region - Mi'kmaq, Acadian, African-Nova Scotian, and British Isles. Our own musicians and singer/songwriters are highlighted, as well as Canadian and international performers.
Most Festival activities take place indoors so are not weather dependent. Friday and Saturday evening main-stage concerts are held in the warm, welcoming ambiance and excellent acoustics of University Hall. Daytime activities include folk dancing, drumming and singing workshops, as well as performances and concerts for all ages. Daytime events take place in the Festival Theatre, Denton Hall and Al Whittle Theatre, venues that are within walking distance of each other.
We always hope for a sparkling September Saturday to enjoy the "Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade" and the free concert in the Clock Park Festival Tent that follows. Pouring rain results in the parade being cancelled but if itís only a light drizzle, raincoats and gumboots are donned and the parade goes on. Rain or shine, the concert in the tent will go ahead! The festival wraps up on Sunday with a wonderful Sing-along Concert and Festival Finale.
Come and experience the bounty of the Canadian Deep Roots Music Festival during the vibrant and colourful harvest season here in the Valley. For an unforgettable musical and cultural experience, make plans to be part of the Deep Roots Music Festival in September.
