CBC Searchlight Contest national finalists, Hillsburn, a young group turning heads, will astound us with great songs, sibling harmony and incredible arrangements. To top it off another unexpected pairing, Matthew Barber and Jill Barber will join the fun with great pride and a healthy dose of brotherly and sisterly love to present The Family Album!

Deep Roots Music Cooperative goes to school …

2016 Deep Roots Festival News, 2016 Deep Roots News

Music is important as a catalyst for learning; as well, music can support and nurture engagement and self-esteem in children.   Since part of the Deep Roots Music Cooperate vision is about making meaningful musical connections, we see a wonderful opportunity here. One of our new projects this year involves sending a musician into the school system. We call it “Musicians in Schools.”

Our pilot project is happening at the Coldbrook School, and involves Deep Roots supporting local musician Scott Hupman in using his natural talents to engage with young musicians. The project will continue to unfold and evolve as feedback happens but a lot of excitement exists about the possibilities.  Based on evaluation of outcomes on this pilot, we anticipate continuing to develop and spread the musical connections.

Stay tuned for more information on this exciting venture! In the meantime, if you are interested, check out this link to one music project in the UK fully supporting this concept that music can rock the world of students in all kinds of positive ways:
