Sam Wilson

Sponsored by Friends of the Festival

Thurs., Sept. 26, 5:00pm: Church Brewing Co
Sat., Sept. 28, 10:00am: Farmers’ Market

From solo guitar to quintet, Sam Wilson presents a performance rich in variety. Playful, yet seriously contemplative, her compositions reflect her love of jazz and improvised music.

Her latest release Groundless Apprehensions is a post-bop modern jazz compilation, self-described as a ‘sonic memoir’ that reflects on the past and processes it through music. With a melodic style influenced by her background in jazz as well as folk and progressive rock, Sam is grabbing the listener’s attention. She has performed at the Halifax Jazz Festival, Open Waters Festival, supported musicians at Prismatic Arts Festival and Nova Scotia Music Week and will be performing at Ottawa’s 21st Century Guitar Conference in August 2019.

“With early steps, this well-formed, what will the rest of Sam Wilson’s journey sound like?” – The East Mag

We’re looking forward to having Sam be part of our Festival this year and you’ll have a couple of opportunities to enjoy her music.
