Jacques Surette est un jeune auteur/compositeur qui vient de la région Sud-Ouest de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Il passe la majorité de son temps à écrire des chansons qui parlent de sa culture et de son coin de pays. Il a commencé à jouer de la guitare à l’âge de 12 ans et il a composé ses propres chansons à 14 ans. Jacques Surette est la nouvelle étoile de sa contrée, et rayonne de plus en plus un peu partout en Acadie. C’est son père, le réputé musicien Éric Surette, qui l’a inspiré à se lancer en musique, mais Jacques est complètement autodidacte.
Il a d’abord écrit quelques chansons en anglais pour se rendre compte rapidement que c’est surtout en français qu’il voulait s’exprimer en musique. Au cours des dernières années, ce jeune artiste a suscité beaucoup d’intérêt sur les réseaux sociaux avec ses chansons simples et touchantes. Son clip « Marche, marche, marche » a été visionné quelques centaines de milliers de fois.
En octobre 2017, il est invité à faire la 1ère partie d’un spectacle de Zachary Richard. Le mois suivant, il présente une vitrine « off » à la FrancoFête en Acadie. Il a participé au concours Star Acadie et remporté 3 prix. À l’été 2017, il participe à la Scène Stella en Nouvelle-Écosse et remporte 4 prix.
En juin 2019, il sort son 1er disque, « Marche, marche, marche » (Le Grenier musique) co-réalisé par Lisa LeBlanc et Benoit Morier. Depuis, on peut le voir un peu partout en Acadie en spectacle. Ainsi lors du Congrès Mondial Acadien, il a été très fier de partager la scène avec une de ses idoles : Cayouche !
Son deuxième album également enregistré aux studio MRC, réalisé par Mike Trask et Christien Belliveau s’intitule “Jacques Surette II”. Cet opus bilingue aux influences folk country pour les titres francophones et rock alternatif pour les chansons anglaises est sorti le 4 septembre 2020.

Jacques Surette is a young writer/composer from the southwestern region of Nova Scotia. He spends most of his time writing songs about his culture and his part of the country. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and composing his own songs at the age of 14. Jacques Surette was the new star of his country, and he became more and more prominent throughout Acadia. It was his father, renowned musician Éric Surette, who inspired him to get into music, but Jacques is completely self-taught.
He first wrote a few songs in English to quickly realize that it was also in French that he wanted to express himself in music. In recent years, this young artist has generated a lot of interest on social networks with his simple and touching songs. His clip «Marche, marche, marche» has been viewed a few hundred thousand times.
In October 2017, he was invited to play the first part of a show by Zachary Richard. The following month, he presented an “off” showcase at La Francofête en Acadie. He participated in the Star Acadie competition and won 3 prizes. In the summer of 2017, he participated in the Stella Scene in Nova Scotia and won 4 awards.
In June 2019, he released his first album, “Marche, marche, marche” (Le Grenier musique) co-directed by Lisa Leblanc and Benoit Morier. Since then, we have seen him perform all over Acadia. During the World Acadian Congress, he was very proud to share the stage with one of his idols: Cayouche!
His second album, also recorded at the MRC studio, directed by Mike Trask and Christien Belliveau, is entitled “Jacques Surette II”. This bilingual opus with folk country influences for French and alternative rock titles for English songs was released on September 4, 2020.
