Wolfville-based singer-songwriter Lily Gunn writes songs that feel like they belong to a specific stretch of Nova Scotia road – ones you know by feel more than by name. Her music lives at the intersection of folk-indie and alt-country, shaped by the East Coast storytelling tradition and an emotional honesty that refuses to flinch. Armed with just a voice and an acoustic guitar, she creates performances that are spare in arrangement and rich in intention.
Gunn first caught the attention of the Nova Scotia music community in 2025, when she appeared as a youth showcase artist at Nova Scotia Music Week – a stage that has introduced some of the region’s most enduring voices. A “tweener” set on the Stan Rogers main stage followed, placing her in front of an audience that prizes exactly the kind of rootsy, unadorned songwriting she brings. Those appearances made clear that Gunn wasn’t warming up for something – she was already there.
In May 2026, she confirmed it. Her debut single “Bad Things” announced a songwriter with something distinct to say, and two further releases have built on that promise – each one deepening the sense of place and emotional terrain that define her work. She writes songs rooted in where she’s from, and in doing so, makes them resonate far beyond it.
