Heidi Kalyani playing harmonium
Kirtan: The Yoga of Singing (Participatory workshop)

Saturday 12:30pm-2:30pm, Wolfville Legion

Join Heidi Kalyani for an introduction to kirtan – a practice of joyful singing meditation, and community connection from the yoga tradition. In addition to being both energetically uplifting and meditatively grounding, the practice of singing kirtan offers deep nourishment for the nervous system, an opening of the heart, and a beautiful way to blend our individual voices together into something much larger.

In this interactive workshop, Heidi (who will be joined by long-time friend and collaborator, Pete Watershed) will introduce the origins, practice, and benefits of kirtan, and invite you to experience it for yourself by singing along! Instrumentation will include vocals, harmonium, saz mridanga, and frame drum. No experience with meditation or singing necessary!

“Our hearts are always singing. All we have to do is listen and sing along.”
 – Krishna Das

Pay in advance and register, or take your chance at the door. $13 (includes taxes and fees)

If you have a full Festival Pass or Saturday Day Pass, the workshop is included at no extra cost, but you must register to ensure a place!
